The Mechanicsburg Area School District’s commitment to music education is grounded in the recognition of the importance and value of music for the individual, the community, the nation and ultimately the world. Music is an aural art form which satisfies the human need to respond to life experiences. This is evidenced by the pervasiveness of music throughout history in all cultures. Research confirms that all persons have innate potential in music. Music instruction must be included in the school curriculum so all students are able to realize this potential and more fully participate in the human experience.
State Competition/Honor Band Accomplishments
Details regarding current Honor band selections should be added shortly... a volunteer to compile past honor band records is needed.
Mechanicsburg Area Senior High's Music Department has had students selected for Pennsylvania All-State Festivals in twenty of the past twenty-two years.

Mechanicsburg students have also been selected for PMEA All-Eastern Festivals in 1983 (Band), 1989 (Band, Chorus and Orchestra), 2001 and 2005 (Orchestra), PMEA National School Orchestra in 2000 and All-Eastern Jazz Ensemble in 2003.
